In simple language a Digital Signature certificate is one’s signatures in electronic format. The DSC is as good as manual signatures by an individual. A DSC can be used to prove one’s identity electronically. Further the information or services can be accessed, using DSC, on the Internet or it can be used to digitally sign the documents.
The cost of getting the DSC depends on the type and time period of the DSC. The cost of DSC is less if the person has his own old USB Token and more if we have to provide the DSC and USB token both. Further the cost also depends on the Certifying agency, from where one person is procuring the DSC.
Once the DSC expires, no one can use the same for digitally signing the documents or any other purpose. The person has to renew his Digital Signature certificate after the expiry of the DSC.
